Obit – Mrs. Joyce West
Tanglewood Community housewife, Mrs. Joyce West was called to her heavenly home at 3:30 p.m. Friday afternoon June 14, 2024 with her family surrounding her bedside. She was pronounced deceased at 5:05 p.m. at the Smith County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carthage where she had made her home since April 27, 2022.
Mrs. West pastor, Eld. Anthony Dixon officiated at the 11 a.m. Monday morning June 17th funeral services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Interment followed in section three at the Defeated Creek Memorial Gardens.
She was one of two daughter of the late Dennis Edward West who died at the age of 50 on November 15, 1973 and Ada Christine Givens West who died at the age of 39 on April 24, 1963.and was born Wanda Joyce West in the Difficult Community on January 11, 1946.
She was preceded in death on March 9, 2005 by her only sibling, Linda Faye West Woodard who died at the age of 56.
Mrs. West was saved at an early age and was baptized into the full fellowship of the Russell Hill Missionary Baptist Church where her membership remained at her death.
After she and her husband relocated to the Tanglewood Community she was attending the North Carthage Baptist Church.
In Celina on November 18, 1961, she was untied in marriage to Graveltown Community resident Harold Junior West.
Survivors in addition to her husband Harold of almost sixty three years are their three children, Kim West Rigsby and husband Scott, Michael West and wife Sandra all of the Tanglewood Community, Scotty West and wife Tammy Porter West of the Riddleton Community; half-sister, Melissa “Sissy” West Mofield of Gordonsville; half-brother, Ricky “Bouncy” West and wife Angela Rich West of the Pleasant Shade Community; six grandchildren, Kyle West and wife Kathryn of the Pea Ridge Community, Corey Rigsby and wife Kim of Hartsville, Paige Hesson and husband Cayce of Carthage, Matt West of Oceanside, California, Katlyn Mayo, and husband Shawn of the Tanglewood Community, Andrea Washer and husband Luke of the Monoville Community; eleven great-grandchildren, Will George, Everett West, Ariauna Hesson, Brycen Connor, Waylon Hesson, Kaitlyn Zachary, C. J. Rigsby, Weston and Austin Mayo, Jaxon and Lennon Washer; brother-in-law, Donnie Woodard and wife Anna of the Russell Hill Community, special niece, Angela Harris and husband Sam of the Pea Ridge Community.
