Obit – Ms. Sibyl Beasley
Ms. Sibyl Beasley age 86, a longtime resident of Ironwood Drive in Donelson, was pronounced deceased at 5:46 a.m. Sunday morning July 7, 2024 at the Trevecca Center for Rehabilitation and Healing on Murfreesboro Road in Nashville where she had made her home since June 16, 2023.
Ms. Beasley was at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home and where Eld. Gerald Ragland officiated at the 11 a.m. Wednesday morning June 10th funeral services. Burial followed in the Beasley family plot beside her father and mother at the Pleasant Shade Cemetery.
She was born Sibyl Joyce Beasley in the Pleasant Shade Community on December 2, 1938 and was one of two children, a son and a daughter, of the late of the late Benton Everett (Pistol) Beasley who died at the age of 69 on April 22, 1986 and Mai C. Oldham Beasley who died at the age of 76 on March 16, 1994.
Ms. Beasley was a graduate of Smith County High School and was a member of the class of 1956 where she majored in home economics, was a member of the Beta Club and the annual staff her junior and senior year and where she served as the typist for the 55 & 56 “Owl” annuals, a member and secretary of the debate club her senior year, and her sophomore year was a in the camera club, and her freshman and sophomore years was a member of both the Girls’ hobby club and the Latin club.
She was saved as a teenager and was a member of the former Sanderson Presbyterian Church on Sanderson Branch in the Pleasant Shade Community.
Ms. Beasley was a retiree of the State of Tennessee and where for over thirty years she served as a secretary in various departments of state government. She was very astute in her work ethic and was a most dependable employee.
Her only immediate survivor is her brother, Pleasant Shade Community resident, Benton Ray Beasley.
The Beasley family has requested memorials be made in Sibyl’s memory to the Pleasant Shade Cemetery Mowing fund.
