William Walton Harvest Festival Saturday

By Eddie West Staff Writer

The annual William Walton Harvest Festival will take place Saturday.

The annual event was postponed from its original date in September because of rain from remnants of Hurricane Helene.

Each year the festival features various craft and food vendors, live entertainment, pioneer craft demonstrations, activities for youth and a beauty pageant.

It’s a special year for the event as the county is celebrating its 225th Anniversary.

An Authentic Costume Contest for the person best dressed for the 1799-era will be held.

In addition, there will be a cake walk, featuring homemade cakes.

There will also be a pie eating contest.

The Harvest Queen Pageant will be held in the afternoon.

New to the festival is a free concert, sponsored by the American Legion 57.

Activities will begin at 10 a.m. and continue throughout the day.
