Obit – Mr. Joe Lapham III
It is with profound sadness and much love that we announce the passing of Mr. Joe Lapham III of the Bloomington Springs Community in Putnam County. He was called home by the Lord June 17, 2026 at 8:30 p.m.
A Celebration of Life will be Monday afternoon July 6th at 2 p.m. at the Peyton Creek Baptist Church,146 Pleasant Shade Highway, Carthage, TN 37030. The church pastor, Bro. Josh Gibbs will deliver the message and family members will deliver eulogies.
He was born Leland Chandous III on August 21, 1950 in Haverhill in Essex County, Massachusetts and was the son of the late Leland Chandous Lapham Jr. and Mary Elizabeth White Lapham.
Mr. Lapham attended Dixie Hollins High school in St. Petersburg, Florida.
He later moved to Littleton, New Hampshire where he spent many years raising a family and working as a butcher. He also owned an upholstery shop with his father for many years refinishing furniture.
His passion was Christ and studying scripture. He was a home body and loved his cozy home, working in his garden, fishing, taking care of his animals and trying new recipes and he loved a good western movie and snacks.
Joe always had a positive outlook and was the person to call for advice, honesty, or just a listening ear. He provided unwavering support to those in this life and had a way of providing comfort and peace to those he knew. He told it like it was and kept going through any challenge he faced assuring everyone “he’s got this”.
He loved his family with all of his heart. He was a hardworking man and did whatever it took to provide. There wasn’t a person he met that didn’t love him. His kindness, the ease of his personality, his humor and his testimony was contagious and loved by all. He touched a lot of people’s lives and left a lasting impression anywhere he went.
He is survived by his life partner, Sharon Weber who he loved and appreciated dearly, his sisters Faith Nicola and her husband Bill Nicola, Diane Hynds and her husband Bob Hynds all of Senoia, Georgia, Kathleen Haldeman, the mother of his four children, of Manheim, Pennsylvania, his oldest son Joe Lapham IV and his wife Lisa of the Riddleton Community, his only daughter Michelle Lapham and her partner Dan Diehm of Lititz, PA, his son Josh Lapham also of Lititz, PA and his youngest son Jonathan Lapham of Pittsburg, PA; five grandchildren, Jessica Lee Lord married to Joshua Lord, Jacob Lapham all of the Riddleton Community, Jada Lapham of Seminole, FL, Liliana Diehm and Dawson Diehm both of Lititz, PA. He was also blessed to have two great grandchildren, Wesley and Easton Lord of the Riddleton Community.
