Obit – Mr. Danny Boyd

Mr. Danny Boyd age 66 of the Maggart Community departed this life at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon July 28th, 2026 at the TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville. Mr. Boyd had suffered from heart problems for about three years. He became seriously ill at his Vaden Lane home on July 2nd and was Life Flighted to the Nashville hospital. 

Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday Morning July 31st from the Rock Springs Cemetery in the Buffalo Valley Community. Pastor Steve Warren officiated and burial was near his parents in the Boyd Family plot.

He was one of three children, a daughter and two sons of the late George Wilson Boyd who died at the age of 56 on February 23, 1996 and Charlene “Charlie” Williams Boyd who died at the age of 50 on March 9, 1994.

Mr. Boyd was a member of the 1977 graduating class at Smith County High School where he played football three years and was a member of the Vocational Class his junior year.

In 2023 he ended a storied career at the William L. Bonnell Co. in Gordonsville where he became an employe following graduation and for forty-three years was a loyal and dedicated employee before his retirement in 2023.

Mr. Boyd was a non-denominational Christian and had attended the Faith Chapel in Baxter.

Surviving are his two sons who lovingly cared for him, Shawn Boyd and wife Kacie of Baxter, Dusty Boyd and wife Jessica of the Maggart Community; sister, Elaine Boyd Hawthorne and husband Jeff of Gordonsville; brother, Tony Boyd also of the Maggart Community; seven grandchildren, Jaylen, Journey, River, Braiden, Ellie, Dakota, and Walker Boyd.
