South Carthage bank robbed; Male subject claimed to be “God” in human form

A South Carthage man has been charged with robbing the South Carthage office of Citizens Bank.

In a bizarre incident, a male subject described as being “strangely dressed” walked into the bank claiming to be “God in human form” and asked for “his money”.

Upon being confronted by the man, a teller handed over a drawer with cash to the male subject who fled the bank on foot. 

A teller sounded a silent panic alarm at the bank around 10 a.m., Thursday.

Law enforcement officers arrived at the bank to learn an unarmed male subject had fled the scene on foot with cash handed over by a teller.

The suspect was described as wearing a navy blue hood which was not attached to the his shirt, a white T-shirt, khaki pants, carrying a fanny pack and wearing dark glasses.

South Carthage Officer Carrie Piatt responded to the call to retrieve an image from the bank surveillance cameras to be dispatched to other law enforcement agencies.

Simultaneously, police were receiving information the male subject fled the bank and was initially believed to be in the Hunter Avenue area (former Rackley Roofing area).

Multiple officers with the sheriffs department, Carthage Police Department and Gordonsville Police Department responding to the call immediately saturated the Hunter Avenue area.

Later, it was learned the suspect was believed to be inside an apartment located on Adel Street which is near Hunter Avenue.
