Four injured in Dixon Springs Highway accident

Four people were reportedly injured in a tragic multiple vehicle accident which occurred on Dixon Springs Highway/Highway 25 in Carthage Wednesday.

The accident occurred just east of the Highway 25 Quick-N-Easy convenience market around 2:18 p.m.

Multiple emergency agencies and personnel responded to the accident including three air ambulances.

Dixon Springs Highway/Highway 25 was temporarily shut down while emergency personnel attended to the victims and the accident scene was being investigated.

While the main thoroughfare was closed, traffic was diverted at the Main Street North and Dixon Springs Highway/Highway 25 intersection and the Dixon Springs Highway/Highway 25 and Industrial Drive intersection.

With the roadway shutdown, one air ambulance landed on Highway 25 in front of Budget Inn Motel to transport a patient.

Two of the four injured were trapped in their vehicle and had to be freed by rescue squad members, first responders and Carthage Fire Department personnel.
