Obit – Mrs. Marcie Hager

Richmond, Indiana native, Mrs. Marcie Hager, entered into eternal rest at the age of 75 at 9:48 p.m. Saturday evening September 5, 2026 at the Smith County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carthage where she had made her home since June 29, 2023. Before entering the Health Care, she made her home in Hendersonville.

Mrs. Hager was cremated at Cumberland Family Services in Algood and her cremains will be returned to the Mossburg Cemetery in Liberty Center in Wells County, Indiana for burial beside her parents.

There will be no visitation in Carthage.

She was born Marcella Smith in Wayne County, Indiana on July 31, 1951 and was the youngest of eleven children, seven daughters and four sons of the late Taylor Russell Smith who died February 16, 1981 at the age of 82 and Lela Mae Stacy Smith who died November 18, 1998 at the age of 90.

Mrs. Hager attended the Lancaster Central High School in Bluffton, Indiana through the eleventh grade.

On December 9, 1986 she and her husband suffered the loss of a son, Danny Lee Hager who died at the age of 20.

The eight siblings preceding her in death were Chester Smith, Dorothy Smith, Ada Kay Smith West, James Edward Smith, Essie Smith Mullins, Addie Daphine Smith Fritz, Ralph Smith and Claude Douglas Smith.

The Hager family relocated form Dayton, Ohio to Hendersonville in August of 1986.

Mrs. Hager was a member of the Hendersonville Church of God.

She was retired from Willowbrook in Hendersonville where she was employed as a home health nurse.

Surviving is her son, Curtis Aaron Hager of White House, the father of their two sons, Jack Hager of Hendersonville; two sisters, Clodine Smith Bonar of New Paris, Ohio, Delores Smith Poling and husband James of Bluffton, Indiana; four grandchildren, Mackenzie Bayless of White House, Addison Hager of Hendersonville, Katherine Hager and Jaxon Hager both of White House.
