OBIT: Smith County Resident Mr. Jimmy Smith

Mr. Jimmy “Chis” Smith, age 64 of the Difficult Community, died Sunday afternoon, October 30 at Riverview Regional in Carthage.  He is survived by: wife, Melanie “Mel” Dillehay Smith; daughter, Becky Jeffreys and husband Casey of Murfreesboro; son,  Brian Smith and wife Misty Yeaman Smith of South Carthage; grandchildren, Lellia Grace and Corbin Lee Jeffreys, Chalet Smith and Jake White; 3  sisters, Linda Smith Rhoten and husband Chuck of Hendersonville, Patty Smith Birdwell and husband Barry of Hermitage Springs, Nancy Keeton and husband Jeff of Hartsville;  2 brothers, Tim Smith and wife Tonya of Union Camp, Steve Smith of Russell Hill; step-mother, Barbara Brockett Smith of Russell Hill.

Mr. Smith is at the Hackett Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home where his service will be conducted on Thursday afternoon, November 3 at 1:00 PM.  Larry Cole will officiate.  Interment in the Defeated Creek Memorial Gardens.  Serving as active pallbearers are: Tim Smith, Steve Smith, Josh Smith, Jr. Dickerson, Ricky Anderson, Ricky Givens, Jackie Martin, Billy Thompson, Ronnie Anderson and Steve Wilmore.  Honorary pallbearers are: Jimmy Dennis, Chuck Rhoten and Barry Birdwell.

Visitation at the Hackett Chapel will begin on Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 until 8:00 PM and on Thursday from 10:00 AM until service time at 1:00 PM.

The family has requested memorials to the Jordan Hackett Foundation.
