OBIT: Mrs. Peggy Shrum Key, Age 72, Of The Tanglewood Community

Mrs. Peggy Shrum Key, age 72, of the Tanglewood Community of Carthage, TN passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2016.

Peggy was born November 4, 1944 in Smith County, TN, the daughter of the late John Sampson Shrum and Rhoda Bell Silcox. She was also preceded in death by Daughter; Mary Beth Key on March 10, 1995 and Two Brothers; Guy Thomas Shrum and Danny Ray Shrum. Mrs. Key was a 1962 graduate of Smith County High School. She retired from South Central Bell. Mrs. Key married Marshall Key on November 23, 1963. She loved flowers. Mrs. Key attended the Pentecostal Free Holiness Church of God.

Mrs. Key is survived by Husband of 52 years; Marshall Key of Tanglewood, TN. Two Sisters; Magaline Shores of Carthage and Ann (Hal) Kirby of Lebanon, TN. Sisters-in-Law; Faye Key Simmons of Bellevue, TN, and Brenda Key Cook of Gallatin, TN. Four Nephews; Kirk Shores, Kenneth “Butch” Shores, Michael Shrum, and Kelly Kirby. Three Nieces; Connie Shrum, Judy Thornton, and Amelia Grant.

Funeral services for Mrs. Key are scheduled to be conducted from the Carthage Church of God on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 1PM with Rev. David Brewington, Rev. Lanny Thomas, and Rev. Alvin Hitchcock officiating. Interment will follow in Ridgewood Cemetery.

Visitation with the Key family will be held at the Carthage Church of God on Tuesday from 1PM until 8PM and on Wednesday after 10am until service time at 1PM.

In lieu of flowers, the Key family requests memorials be made to the Smith County Cancer Fund.
