Obit – Mr. Ethan “E.E.” Way
Mr. Ethan “E.E.” Way, age 19,of the Tanglewood Community died shortly after arrival at the Riverview Regional Medical Center E. R. in Carthage. He was pronounced deceased at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning August 12, 2020 after going into full cardiac arrest while Vanderbilt Medical Center’s Lifeflight was waiting to transport him to Nashville.
Bro. Wallace Caldwell officiated at the 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon August 16th funeral services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Garden of Everlasting Life at the Smith County Memorial Gardens.
Born Ethan Spencer Way at the former Smith County Memorial Hospital on February 22, 2001, he was one of four children of James Edward (Jimmy) Way Jr. and Kimberly Gwen McCall Way of the Tanglewood Community.
Mr. Way was a 2019 graduate of Smith County High School.
He was saved June 27, 2010 at Vacation Bible School at the Carthage First Baptist Church and in October of 2010 he was baptized in the Cordell Hull Lake in the Sullivans Bend Community by Bro. Lee Neal, who then was pastor of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, also in the Sullivans Bend Community.
At the time of his death he attended the Carthage First Freewill Baptist Church in the Tanglewood Community.
He had been an employee at the Carthage Pizza Hut for four years.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his two sisters, Kaitlyn Neal and husband Casey Joe of Gordonsville, Mia Way of the Tanglewood Community; brother, Matthew Way and wife Kaitlyn of the Defeated Creek Community; maternal grandparents, Harold and Rosa Grisham McCall of the Watervale Community; paternal grandparents, Pastor Eddy and Betty Evers Way of Monterey; maternal great grandmothers, Betty Overstreet Grisham of the Elmwood Community, Reba Joy Lankford McCall of South Carthage; paternal great-grandmothers, Elenor Galloway and Georgie Way both of Monterey.
The Way family request memorials be made to the Mia Way Scholarship Fund.
