Obit – Mr. Bobby Gregory
Mr. Bobby Gregory, age 82, of Red Boiling Springs, died at his Valley View Drive under the care of Avalon Hospice at 9:41 a.m. Thursday morning, October 22, 2020.
Mr. Gregory was at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home and was to be cremated at the Cumberland Family Services in Algood.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a date, place and time to be announced.
Born Samuel Robert Gregory Jr. in Nashville on September 18, 1938, he was one of ten children and was the son of the late Samuel Robert Gregory Sr., who died June 14, 1992 at the age of 72, and Eva Nell Doble Gregory and was the step-son of Edith Mai Bowman Gregory, who died at the age of 67 on September 21, 1998.
Known deceased siblings are Samuel Clayton (Bubba) Gregory, who died April 16, 2012 at the age of 60, Larry Gregory, Michael Gregory, James Robert “Jimmie “ Gregory, who died February 15, 1953 at the age of six months.
He was a 1958 graduate of Smith County High School.
Mr. Gregory proudly served our country with the United States Air Force from September of 1955 before being honorably discharged in December 0f 1958. He was a peacetime veteran between the Korean and the Vietnam Wars.
He drove for the U.S. Express from 1962 until his retirement in 2011.
He formerly lived at the
Defeated Creek Marina campground but for the last two and one half years he has resided in Macon County and was so proud that he was baptized into Christ at the Willette Church of Christ shortly after relocating to the Red Boiling Springs area.
Surviving are six children, Julie Ann Gregory and Cindy Lee, both of Ogden, Utah, Russell “Russ” Gregory of Scottsville, KY, Jody and Larry Gregory, both of Tampa, Florida, Samuel Ronald Gregory and wife, Marcie, of Springfield; four sisters, Sandy Gregory Silcox and husband, Rex, of the Buffalo community, Joyce Branham of Lebanon, Edna Bowlin of the Bradford Hill community, Linda Mosley and husband, Ben, of Brush Creek; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
