Obit – Mr. Joe McDonald
Funeral services for Mr. Joe McDonald of the Chestnut Mound Community have been scheduled for Wednesday morning June 9th at 11 a.m. from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Bro. Jeff Burton will officiate and burial will be in the McDonald family lot in the Garden of Gethsemane at the Smith County Memorial Gardens.
Mr. McDonald was pronounced deceased at 11:08 p.m. Saturday evening June 5, 2021 at the age of 83 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville after being air lifted by Life Fight on Saturday afternoon from Riverview Regional Medical Center E. R. in Carthage.
An ambulance was dispatched to his McDonald Lane farm home at 12:55 p.m. Saturday afternoon. He and his son were working on the family farm when Mr. McDonald collapsed from an apparent heart attack.
Mr. McDonald was preceded in death by his wife, longtime Smith County Trustee, Judy Fitzpatrick McDonald.
The two children, Jo Ann McDonald Holland of Lebanon and David McDonald of Chestnut Mound were to finalize arrangements at Sanderson at 3 p.m. Monday afternoon.
