Obit – Mr. Danny “Sweet Pea” Roberts

Mr. Danny “Sweet Pea” Roberts age 62 of the Hogans Creek Community was pronounced dead on arrival at the Riverview Regional Medical Center in Carthage at 6:59 p.m. Sunday evening October 29, 2023 after being discovered deceased at his Hogans Creek Road home by his son.

Mr. Roberts was at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home and funeral services were conducted on Thursday afternoon November 2nd at 1 p.m. Mr. Roberts’s nephew, Bishop Drew Eastes officiated. Burial followed in Circle Park at the Smith County Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Roberts was one of three children, a son and two daughters, of the late Bobby Glenn Roberts who died August 4, 2021 at the age of 82 and Gladys Marie Albritton Roberts who died June 9, 2015 at the age of 74 and was born Danny Austin Roberts at the former Thayer S. Wilson Clinic in Carthage (now Poindexter Reality) on August 25, 1961.

For thirty years Mr. Roberts was employed at the William L. Bonnell Co. in Gordonsville before leaving in 2013.

He was a member of the 1979 class at Smith County High School.

Mr. Roberts was of the Pentecostal faith.

He enjoyed being in the outdoors, fishing, and hunting for ginseng.

Survivors include his son, Michael Roberts and wife Jonna McKinney Roberts of the Hogans Creek Community; two granddaughters, Laken Roberts and Hallie Grace Roberts; two sisters, Elva Roberts Knight of South Carthage, Glenda Roberts Eastes and husband David of Sparta; special extended family, The Connors, Shawn, Brandi, Austin and Nevaeh.
