Obit – Linda Gale Baker

An absolutely beautiful person, inside and out, Linda Gale Baker (Meme), 75, of Brush Creek, TN, peacefully transitioned to her Heavenly home on Tuesday, May 14th, 2024 surrounded by her beloved family.

Born on September 28th, 1948 to the late Dayton and Anna Belle Grandstaff Woodside of Brush Creek, TN. Linda was a 1966 graduate of Gordonsville High School. She married the late Donny (Papa D) Baker on April 1, 1966 and he preceded her in death on July 6, 2005.

There’s nothing she loved more than her family. Many will remember her from her countless hours at a gym or ball field watching her children and grandchildren play sports. She was a friend and confidante to many over her years as a hairdresser.

Her love for others and her love of serving and feeding people was apparent as you could always count on her chicken and rice soup in a time of need.

She was an active member of Brush Creek Baptist Church where she gladly served with prayers, love, and hospitality.

She was a mother and Meme to many more than just her own and her positive impact on people is far reaching. She was loved deeply and will be missed forever.

She is survived by her three children; Chris (Leslie) Baker of Lebanon, Jill (Randy) Jennings of Brush Creek, and Jay Baker of Brush Creek. Seven grandchildren; Cori (Blake) Benefield of Murfreesboro, Steven (Chelsi) Jennings of Brush Creek, Taylor Baker of Carthage, Kaylee Baker of Lebanon, Landon Baker of Carthage, Regan Baker of Lebanon, and Elliott Baker of Lebanon. Three great grandchildren; Collins Bell Benefield of Murfreesboro, Cullen Tate Jennings of Brush Creek, and Beckett Gray Baker of Carthage. Sister; Kathy (Dave) Lawrence of Alexandria. Niece; Dana (Eric) Heflin of Alexandria. Nephew; Blake Lawrence of Lebanon. Great nephews; Dayton and Brayden Helfin of Alexandria.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to special friends Sue Collins, Lynette Williams, Rose Lea, Brittany Lea, and Nancy Malone for their love and devotion over the years.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Baker were conducted from the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 1PM with Bro. Chris Chambers officiating. Interment followed in the Brush Creek Cemetery.

The family requests memorials be made to Brush Creek Baptist Church Hats of Love Fund or the Brush Creek Cemetery Fund.
