A mainstay in the lineup for the Smith County High Owls basketball team, Clayton Rigsby, is pursuing a collegiate career at Cumberland University.
Rigsby signed with the Lebanon based Phoenix program after posting 600 plus points during his four year career in the Black-and-Gold.
“It is something I have always wanted to do,” said Rigsby about playing collegiate basketball. “I have loved basketball my whole life and Coach Ross (Fleming IV) recruited me hard. It feels like the right place to be.”
The 6-foot-4, 175 pound guard was named to the first team All-District 5AA team last season. His senior campaign also garnered Rigsby DTC All-Star recognition.
The veteran Owl was key in Smith Co.’s run to the Region 3AA semifinals. The unit ended last season with a 14-19 record.
Among the career highlights for Rigsby, includes second team All-District in his junior season and being named to the District All-Defensive team as a sophomore and a junior.
