Obit – Janet Tubb Sanders

Janet Tubb Sanders, age 85 of Lancaster, TN, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024.

Janet was born October 4, 1938 in Lebanon, TN, a daughter of the late George Gragson Tubb and Virginia Dare Lancaster Tubb. She was also preceded in death by her Brother; Ricky Tubb and Sister; Dian Tubb. Janet became a member of the Lancaster United Methodist Church at the age of 12 on August 4, 1951 at the old Methodist Church by the depot on the other side of town. Five years later she sang “ Bless this house” at the dedication of the new church located on Hwy 141. Always involved in music, she sang solos and was a member of the Lancaster United Methodist Church choir for a number of years. She and Elva Woodard Hart were a duet for years and even sang on Wally Flower’s “All Night Singing” at the Ryman Auditorium and the Junior Grand Ole Opry on WSM Radio.

Janet attended Lancaster Elementary School and graduated from Gordonsville High School, where she was active in music, in 1956.

She worked for the FBI in Washington, DC, until she moved to Indiana. There she worked at Paul Saylor Elementary School as the librarian. Later moving back to her hometown of Lancaster, she worked as dispatcher, bookkeeper, and office manager for the Smith Co Sherriff’s Office under Sherriff Sidney Harper. Later she worked as deputy clerk at the Circuit Court Clerk’s office until she retired in 2006.

She is survived by her two sons; John A. “Trey” (Patsy) Sanders, III, of Carthage, TN, and their children and grandchildren: John A. (Kristen) Sanders, IV – John A. “Quin” Sanders, V, Jolynn Sanders, and “baby coming soon” – Patrick E. (Samantha) Sanders – Haywood Sanders and Emerson Sanders – and Zachary H. (Bailey) Sanders – Breckston Sanders and Mila Sanders – Nikkole Sanders – Cora Lynn – and Hadleigh Sanders, and Jason A. (Kim) Sanders of Gordonsville, TN, and their daughter; Madelyn Dare Sanders and step-daughters; Kayla (Logan) Hallman, Courtney Dillard, and Ellie Dillard. Brother; Michael L. Tubb of Lancaster, TN.

Services for Ms. Sanders were conducted from the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 6PM.

The family will hold graveside services at a later date
