William Walton Harvest Festival set for Saturday

The annual William Walton Harvest Festival will be held Saturday (September 28) in downtown Carthage.

The annual event features various craft and food vendors, live entertainment, pioneer craft demonstrations, activities for youth and a beauty pageant.

It’s a special year for the event as the county is celebrating its 225th Anniversary.

An Authentic Costume Contest for the person best dressed for the 1799-era will be held.

In addition, there will be a cake walk, featuring homemade cakes.

There will also be a pie eating contest.

Activities will begin at 10 a.m. and continue through 5 p.m.

 The Harvest Queen Pageant will be held starting at 4:00 p.m. 

The event is held each year on the last Saturday in October.

The festival celebrates William Walton, the first settler of the area now known as Carthage (Tennessee).

Walton played a pivotal role in the region’s early development. 

Awarded land for his Revolutionary War service, Walton’s contributions included donating land for the town and establishing the Geneva Academy.
