Obit – Mr. Eddie Denney
Mr. Eddie Denney of the Rock City Community was pronounced deceased with his family present at his Lost Creek Lane home at 1 p.m. Thursday afternoon October 24, 2025 by Gentiva Hospice of Livingston. The 75-year-old Mr. Denney had been battling leukemia with which he was diagnosed in December of 2021.
Mr. Denney was at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home where he had pre-arranged for a private graveside service with only the immediate family present. Interment was in the Denney family lot in the Garden of Gethsemane at the Smith County Memorial Gardens at 2 p.m. on Friday afternoon October 25th.
He was one of two sons of the late Marshall Ray Denney who died December 18, 1993 at the age of 76 and Irene Wilsie Wilkerson Denney who died March 6, 2007 at the age of 81.
Eddie’s only sibling, William Ray Denney, preceded him in death at the age 69 on July 3, 2016.
Also, preceding Mr. Denney in death was a grandchild, Vrayden French of Chicago.
Mr. Denney was a former truck driver for Crockett-Phillips in Gordonsville and in 2014 retired from the Solid Waste Department of Smith County Government where he drove a dumpster roll-off truck for over fifteen years.
He was of the Southern Baptist faith.
He is survived by his companion of over thirty years, Joyce Manus Flowers; two children, David Denney and wife Kim of Lafayette, Christy Denney French of Chicago; eight grandchildren, Amanda Tucker and husband Ryan, Jesse Denney and wife Tonya, Samuel Denney and wife Julietta, Aiden French Christopher Clark, Destiny Clark, Robert Hall and Brittany Cullpepper; six great-grandchildren.
