Abigail looking for permanent home

By Eddie West

Staff Writer

An ever increasing number of residents are finding a family is incomplete without a pet.

In particular, dogs are becoming a family essential not only for playful interaction with youngsters and adults, but also companionship especially for individuals who may live alone.

A family pet such as a dog can be a vital emotional support for many.

That special family addition could be waiting to be adopted through the non-profit organization Smith County Humane.

The all volunteer organization’s  mission is to provide a variety of animal welfare services within the county including dogs in particular.

In the weeks ahead, the Courier is working with Smith County Humane to help find permanent homes for its pets which are available for adoption.

Plans are to introduce pets up for adoption to the community with a photo and a brief description of the pet in hopes of locating them a forever home.
