Obit – Mrs. Joanne Ingraham

Mrs. Joanne Ingraham of the Brush Creek Community entered the kingdom of Heaven at the age of 70 at 6:20 p.m. Saturday evening November 23, 2024 at the School House Circle home of her daughter and son-in-law Alexandria and Zach Warmath’s in the Brush Creek Community. She was under the care of Amedisys Hospice of Murfreesboro.

Mrs. Ingraham was at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home where she was prepared for transport to the Appalachian Funeral Home in Johnson City, Tennessee on Monday morning November 25th.

The graveside committal service was conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon November 27th at the Roselawn Memory Gardens in Johnson City.

The youngest of nine children, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Henry Lewis Sr. and Dorothy Hendrix Lewis and was born Joanne Lewis on March 19, 1954.

Mrs. Ingraham was preceded in death by her husband of twenty-five years, Edward Ingraham.

Also preceding her in death were three sisters, Regina Maupin, Wanda Martin, and Irene Moore and by two brothers, Buford Lewis and Herbert Henry Lewis Jr.

It was at Texas Instruments, where she was employed for fifteen years, that she met her future husband, Edward.

After moving to the Sulphur Springs Community in Carter County, she focused on caring for her family and helping those in her close-knit community. 

Mrs. Ingraham was loved by all who knew her for her kind heart, generous spirit, and sense of humor.

Always there when you need her, she was truly a light in this world, and cared deeply for her family and friends and she especially loved being Aidan’s Mamaw.

Mrs. Ingraham was a member of the Bethel Church of Christ.

Surviving in addition to her daughter Alex and son-in-law Zach is a son, Kevin Slagle; grandson, Aidan Warmath; sister, Cheryl Miller; two brothers, Dale Lewis and wife Mary Ruth, Gary Lewis and wife Darlene, many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
