Obit – Mrs. Erline White

The angels in heaven are rejoicing with the welcoming home of Mrs. Erline White, age 77, of the Stonewall Community. She was pronounced deceased at 9:22 a.m. Monday morning December 2, 2024 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville with her family at her bedside. 

She was airlifted to the facility after suffering what would become a fatal fall on Sunday afternoon December 1st.

A Celebration to Celebrate her storied life was conducted from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home with her pastor, Bro. Tommy Ferguson, remembering her life. Her daughter, Tina Craighead delivered the eulogy consisting of some of the writings from Mrs. White’ s bible. Burial followed beside her husband at the Gordonsville Cemetery with Pastor Dennis Croslin officiating.

She was the third of five children and was born Erline Hall at the family’s Brush Creek home and was the daughter of the late Hobert Ligon Hall who died in March of 1980 at the age of 74 and Thelma Myrtle Thomas Hall who died April 28, 1981 at the age of 70.

A sister, Jodine Hall Cripps preceded her in death at the age of 63 on August 3, 2000 as did a brother, John Thomas Hall who preceded her in death at the age of 77 on November 3, 2016.

Mrs. Hall was a 1965 graduate at Gordonsville High School.

In the Brush Creek Community on August 20, 1965, she was united in marriage to Putnam County native Terry Lee White who preceded her in death on January 16, 2016 at the age of 70.

Mrs. White was a member of the Hickman Baptist Church. Her favorite Bible verse was Philippians 4:13 which states: I can do all things thru Christ who strengthens me. 

In 1990 she retired from the Farm Credit Services where she was the secretary for twenty-three years.

Following retirement, she and her daughter established the Interior Designs Company which did interior designs for homes in the area.

Later she created the Etcetera Shop in Gordonsville and after finally retiring she sold the shop and the purchasers relocated it to Carthage.

Surviving is her daughter, Tina White Craighead and husband Jerry of the Horseshoe Bend Community, Tim White and wife Lisa of Nolensville, TN; companion, Jamie Croslin of the Hickman Community; four grandchildren, Legon Craighead Roberson and husband Dustin of Jackson, TN, Jamin Craighead and wife Courtney of the Horseshoe Bend Community, Brandon Jett and Austin Jett both of Nashville; three grandchildren, Oaklee and Kyndal Craighead, Aurora Roberson; two brothers, David Hall and wife Becky of Chattanooga, Neal Hall and wife Christina of Carthage.

The family has requested memorials be made to Tina Craighead for use for Smith County cancer patients.
