Lady Owls 53, Tigerettes 35

GORDONSVILLE — A Saturday night showdown concluded the 2024-2025 edition of the girls basketball hardwood rivalry between the Smith County High Lady Owls and the Gordonsville High Tigerettes.

The Black-and-Gold completed their rivalry sweep with a 53-35 victory over Big Blue last Saturday night at GHS.

The Lady Owls tallied their second double digit victory against the Tigerettes after registering a 79-45 win Friday, December 6 in Carthage. 

Smith Co.’s defensive pressure and full-court press contributed to 27 Gordonsville turnovers as the 18 point triumph improved the Lady Owls to 7-3 overall. 

The Tigerettes shot 25 percent from the field as the unit fell to 3-5 overall. 

Smith Co.’s sophomore standout Emry Jones led all scorers with 17 points. Senior Lady Owl Karly Ramsey was also in double figures with 13 points. Dacey Claywell posted six points while Chloe Collins tallied five including a triple. Catie Belle McCarter added four points. Chloe Powell posted three points while Scarlet Powell tossed in a trey. Hailey Overstreet concluded the Black-and-Gold scoring with two points.
