TIGERS MAKE RIVALRY STATEMENT

Tigers 62, Owls 47

GORDONSVILLE — Last Saturday night at GHS, the Gordonsville High Tigers capped their rivalry series against cross-county foe Smith County High with a commanding 15 point victory over the Owls, 62-47.

Big Blue led by as much as 26 points in the second half as the unit secured a sweep over their long time nemesis Smith Co. The Tigers improved to 6-1 overall.

The Owls were hindered by 20 turnovers in the contest as the Black-and-Gold shot 36 percent from the field. Smith Co. fell to 4-6 overall.

Gordonsville claimed a six point victory in their first meeting with the Owls. Big Blue overcame a second half deficit to claim a 54-48 victory over the hosting SCHS on Friday, December 6. 

The Tigers were powered by junior guard Carter Gibson who tossed in 25 points and made several defensive stops for Gordonsville. Senior big man Brodie Sykes was also in double figures as he tossed in 12 for the Tigers. James Peoples added eight points while Tucker Smith tossed in six. Aidan Miller tallied three first half points while Isaac Agee, Mason Greer, Clinton Pope and Camrix Stott posted two points apiece.
