Team looks for signs of paranormal at courthouse in Carthage

The Smith County Courthouse is noted for its architectural beauty.

From the outside, some would argue the stately structure is the most picturesque courthouse in the state of Tennessee, creating a natural attraction for tourists visiting the county.

But some individuals are attracted to the inside of the facility for an out of the ordinary reason.

In particular, two National Football League players, DeAngelo Williams and Gary Barnidge, recently visited the decades old courthouse as a paranormal outing.

According to Steven Denson, with Mid-Tenn Paranormal, the two former professional football players were recently in Smith County “investigating the existence of the unknown”.

Barnidge “doesn’t believe in ghosts or cryptids and the two are on a journey with their team ‘Skeptic’,  to prove the unknown exist to Gary and other skeptics everywhere” Denson explains.

The two were here to investigate if the rumors of the “courthouse being haunted are true and if they can finally prove to Gary that the paranormal exists, according to Denson.

“Barnidge has been interested in the unknown which includes paranormal and many other things. He has been to multiple haunted places as well as on Bigfoot hunts and a lot of ghost tours learning about the unknown but doesn’t actually believe. He does it to just find out if it actually exists. DeAngelo only is doing it because he is friends with Gary and he wants to prove to Gary it is all real. He has experienced things when he was younger that made him a believer and to this day he won’t go into a haunted location. He stays outside and runs the cameras,” Denson explains.
