For the first time in the program’s 26 year history, the Gordonsville High Tigerettes volleyball team is state tournament bound.

The Tigerettes (23-1) earned a spot in this week’s Class 1A State Tournament with a dominant 3-0 sweep of perennial powerhouse Sale Creek last Thursday night at Gordonsville High School.

Gordonsville, who has made an undefeated run through the postseason claiming the District 8-1A and Region 4-1A titles, begins their trek for a potential state title Tuesday at Murfreesboro’s Siegel High School with a quarterfinal round test against Union City (24-6). The Class 1A quarterfinal is scheduled for a 2:30 start.

Gordonsville would advance to the 1A semifinals with a victory and would play Wednesday, October 22 at 12:00 against either Summertown or Chattanooga School for Arts and Sciences.

A Big Blue defeat would drop the Tigerettes to the consolation bracket at 5:00 p.m.. All 1A Tournament games will be played at Siegel High School.

Gordonsville volleyball head coach Brian Leslie, who has guided the program through all 26 seasons, discussed the program’s achievement and the 2025 Tigerettes.

“Whenever you have done it this long and not taken that next step, sometimes you wonder but you also see how big every point, set and match is,” said Leslie.
