Letters to Santa & Business Greetings inside
While youngsters from pre-school through third grade seldom find themselves among the print pages of newspapers,
here in Smith County they take CENTER STAGE every Christmas week issue.
This year around 750 hand-written Letters To Santa are published in their entirety — and typed by our staff exactly as each author submitted — with spellings (such as telufon, modre sikoole, crismis) and grammar overlooked by our proof-readers because we understand the jolly old man can decipher their requests. In addition to requests for the coolest toys & games, a bit of the sincere comments from the past two years include, “Thank you for hiring the reindeers”, “I hope you like the cookise and the matendue if we do not have milk”, “I will leave you ONE cookie”, “Is Rudolph’s nose doing ok?”, “I want $100 and the reason is I don’t have any money right now”.
Local businesses include their holiday wishes as well. This special edition is available through their participation and support.
For over four decades now, the Carthage Courier has used Express Delivery to the North Pole of this highly-anticipated and beloved special issue —
doing our part in helping make the wishes and dreams of our up-and-coming readership come true.
