Early voting in August elections gets underway

Early voting in the August 6 elections began Friday.

On the first day of early voting, 212 voters cast their ballots.

Meanwhile, during a half-day Saturday 47 voted.

Early voting will continue through Saturday, August 1.

Early voting is taking place at the Turner Building located at 122 Turner High Circle in Carthage and on select dates at the Gordonsville Civic Center located at 63 Main Street East in Gordonsville.

Early voting dates and times at the Gordonsville Civic Center include:

Tuesday, July 21 – 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 pm

Wednesday, July 22 – 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Thursday, July 23 – 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Residents can also vote at the Smith County Election Commission office located in the Turner Building in Carthage throughout the early voting period.

Early voting dates and times for voting at the Turner Building include:

July 17—August 1

Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

Saturdays—9 a.m.-12 p.m.

July 21-July 28 (Tuesdays extended hours)—8 a.m.-6 p.m.

Voters are asked to bring a valid federal or Tennessee state-issued photo ID when voting. 

The August 6 election include County General Election, South Carthage Municipal Election and Tennessee Primary Election.

All county residents will be voting in the County General Election and State Primary Election on August 6.

Meanwhile, in addition to these two elections, South Carthage residents will be voting in a South Carthage Municipal Election.
