County fair

The Smith County Fair begins Friday with prefair events.

This year’s fair begins with prefair events on Friday (June 26) and Saturday (June 27).

The fair with carnival rides runs from Monday, June 29 through Saturday, July 4.

Fair officials are placing a special emphasis on pre-fair events, holding a number of beauty pageants which are always a county fair highlight.

On Friday, an open archery competition will take place beginning at 4 p.m.

Saturday will include a full day of activities.

Several beauty pageants will take place on Saturday including Senior Fairest of the Fair, Elite Fairest of the Fair, Miss Teen Fairest of the fair and Miss Fairest of the Fair beginning at 7 p.m.

Activities on Saturday begin as early as 7 a.m. with the Warrior by the River Mud Run.

The county fair tabloid,  a go to guide, providing times, dates for various events and activities as well as exhibit/contest entry information times, rules, regulations, is available at area businesses including the Courier.
