One person injured in Carthage wreck

One person was injured and Main Street North in Carthage was temporarily shutdown following a wreck Thursday afternoon.

The accident occurred shortly before 4 p.m. in the Beulahland area.

Traveling out of town on the right side of the roadway, the vehicle struck a mailbox, grazed a pickup truck before crossing the two lane highway and traveling several feet down a steep embankment on the left side of the road, according to a Carthage Police Department accident report.

The vehicle came to a final rest in a wooded area.

Because of the dense brush and trees, the vehicle was barely visible from the roadway.

Carthage Officer John Baiera responded to the accident and was able to locate the wreckage. Carthage Officer Jordan Green also arrived on the scene to aid in the accident.

The female driver was able to get out of the vehicle.
