COUNTY — Monday started the next phase of preseason preparations for both the Smith County High Owls and Gordonsville High Tigers football squads as programs began their first week of full contact practices on July 27.
The first week of full pads also means scrimmages for the area units as Gordonsville will host Class 2A elite East Robertson Thursday, July 30 at Turney Ford Field. The scrimmage is slated to begin at 6:00.
The Smith County Owls will make the trek to Putnam County for scrimmage action on Friday, July 31. Owls action is scheduled to begin at 6:00.
Gordonsville will conclude their preseason scrimmage schedule on Friday, August 7th as Big Blue travels to Smithville for scrimmage action against the DeKalb County Tigers.
The Black-and-Gold is slated to host their final scrimmage as the unit battles the York Dragons in Carthage on Friday, August 7th at 6:00.
The Gordonsville Jamboree on Friday, August 14th will serve as the final tune up for the Owls and Tigers.
The hosting Big Blue will face the White County Warriors in the Jamboree night cap at 8:00.
Smith County will begin the jamboree with a battle against DCA at 6:00.
The preseason finale’s middle contest at 7:00 will feature York Institute against Watertown.
