Obit – Mr. Jody Johnson
With sad hearts the family of Smith County business owner, Jody Johnson of the Beasley’s Bend Community, announce the passing of their loving husband, son, brother and grandfather, who was pronounced deceased at the TriStar Summit Medical Center Emergency Department in Hermitage at 2:48 p.m. Thursday afternoon July 30, 2026.
A memorial Celebration of Jody’s Life will be held on Thursday afternoon August 13th at the Carver Barn, in the Defeated Creek Community, 315 Defeated Creek Highway, Carthage, TN. Bro. Ritchie Gibbs will officiate and family and friends will deliver the eulogies. A private burial will be on the family farm.
The Johnson family will have a visitation at the Carver Barn on Thursday August 13 from 1 p.m. until the memorial Celebration of Life at 3 p.m.
Born Jody Dewayne Johnson in Winter Park in Polk County, Florida on November 14, 1974, he was the son of Eddie Johnson Jr. and Linda Dean Taylor Johnson of the Riddleton Community.
Mr. Johnson was a member of the 1993 graduating class at Smith County High School where he was a member of the Future Farmers of America, the French Club and the final three years of his schooling was a member of the Future Business Leaders of America and the Speech and Drama Club his junior and senior year and played football his freshman year.
The Johnson family attends the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church; however, Mr. Johnson was saved at the age of 13 and was baptized in the fellowship of the Rome Baptist Church.
On the family farm on June 13, 2020, he was united in marriage to the former Karry LeAnn Moss. The ceremony was performed by Bro. Ritchie Gibbs.
Mr. Johnson had a twenty-year career in the overhead door installation and repair business and for the past eight years had owned and operated the Johnson Door Service.
Surviving in addition to his parents, Eddie and Linda and his wife Karry are two sons, Austin Dewayne Johnson and wife Hailey and their daughter Mazzey Jo Johnson, all of the Turkey Creek Community, Vincent Layne Johnson of the Riddleton Community; step-son, Jordan Allen Key of Cookeville.
The Johnson family has requested memorials to the grandson Vincent’s college fund.
