Obit – Ms. Kristine Levinski

A United States Army Veteran, Ms. Kristine Levinski of South Carthage, was discovered unresponsive on Tuesday evening August 18th at her Duffy Avenue home. She was pronounced dead on arrival at 7:42 p.m. August 18th 2026 at the Highpoint Health – Riverview with Ascension St. Thomas Emergency Department. Ms. Levinski was 70.

Ms. Levinski was being cremated at the Cumberland Family Services in Algood. 

There will be a gathering of family and friends to memorialize the life of Ms. Levinski at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home on Tuesday August 25th from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. 

The gathering will be closed with a military tribute by American Legion Post # 57 of Carthage as they pay honor for her service to our country.

She was one of eight children of the late William Levinski who died August 16, 1980 at the age of 60 and Ethel Westlund Levinski who died June 26, 2015 at the age of 92 and was born Kristine Ruth Levinski in Cloquet in Carlton County, Minnesota on November 24, 1955.

Ms. Levinski was a 1973 graduate of Cloquet High School in her home town of Cloquet.

She was a Certified Nurse Assistant, a career she engaged in until her retirement.

Ms. Levinski was honorably discharged with the rank of Specialist 4th Class at Fort Benning, Georgia on March 1, 1982 and was a member of Company C 197th Specialist Battalion.

She was inducted on October 3, 1979 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

For her dedicated service she was awarded the Army Service Ribbon; the Expert Qualification Badge for the M-16; and the Hand Grenade Qualification Badge.

Ms. Levinski was a non-denominational Christian.

Surviving are two daughters, Candy Cravens and husband Ron of Cookeville, Cindy Barrett and husband Ronnie of the Buffalo Valley Community; two grandchildren, Haley Moore and husband Jeremiah of Nicholasville, Kentucky, Gage Cravens of Cookeville.

Instead of flowers, memorials may be made to funeral home for expense.
