COMPLETE DOMINANCE; Tigers (7-0) thrash Westmoreland in final regular season road test; post first shutout, 41-0

WESTMORELAND — The term “seventh heaven” is defined as a state of complete happiness and euphoria. That feeling accurately describes the state of the Gordonsville High football team and their supporters following the unit’s seventh consecutive win last Friday night at Westmoreland. The Tigers improved to 7-0 with a dominant 41-0 victory against the Eagles.

Westmoreland fell to 3-4 overall as Big Blue took home the victory in the two programs’ first clash since 2014.

The visiting Tigers dominated in all three phases — forcing three turnovers defensively, their special teams connected on 5-of-6 PATs and the offensive unit racked up 386 yards.

“I thought our kids came out and played really hard,” said Gordonsville head coach Stephen Jackson. “We challenged them this week to make sure we played really physical. Westmoreland football is a tradition based team that plays physical football.”

Jackson continued, “One thing when you have a lot of success is making sure you stay humble and our kids are staying humble and they are coming to work. It paid off tonight with another great performance.”
