Obit-Mrs. June Gibbs Vaden

Mrs. June Gibbs Vaden, age 94, of Hickman, TN, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026. 

Born Alma Imogene Gibbs on February 14, 1932 in South Carthage, TN, a daughter of the late Virgil B “Smokey” Gibbs and Alice Era Hewitt Gibbs. She graduated from Smith County High School in 1949. Mrs. June was married to James Donald Vaden on August 1, 1959 by Brother Phocian Gibbs and he preceded her in death on November 6, 2009. She was also preceded in death by Son; Timothy Joel Vaden on February 15, 2024 and Siblings; Opal Maveline Gibbs, Edward Allen “Frog” Gibbs, Horace “Red” Gibbs, Maxie Albert Gibbs, Sr, and Phillip Wayne Gibbs. 

She was saved on September 12, 1948 at South Carthage Missionary Baptist Church and was a member of the Caney Fork Missionary Baptist Church. 

Mrs. Vaden is survived by Children; Donnie (Renia) Vaden of Chestnut Mound, TN, Darla Vaden of Hickman, TN, and Jeff “J.W.” (Rhonda) Vaden of Chestnut Mound, TN. Grandchildren; Brandon (Morgan) Vaden, Brittany (Adam) Shaw, Kayla (Ben) Malone, Jordan (Paige) Key, and Erin Vaden. Great-grandchildren; Austin, Silas, Maci, Ashtyn, Carter, Campbell, Logan, Lincoln, Jackson, and Luke. Sister-in-Law; Linda Gibbs. 

Funeral Services for Mrs. Vaden were conducted from the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Sunday, August 2, 2026 at 3PM with Eulogy delivered by Jeff Vaden and Jody Murray and Bro. Tim Blackburn and Bro. Brad Whittemore officiated. Interment followed in the Smith County Memorial Gardens with Bro. Brandon Morris officiating. 

The family requests memorials be made to the Caney Fork Missionary Baptist Church or the South Carthage Missionary Baptist Church.
