OBIT: Dorris Duke Manning, age 80, Smith County Native

Dorris Duke Manning, age 80, died Saturday morning, Sept. 17, 2016 in Stevensville, MI.

Born in Smith County, he was the son of the late Tafford Manning and Clara Bell Midgett Manning. Bro. Manning was a missionary and minister for over 50 years, retiring as pastor of the Grant Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Jackson Manning of Coloma, OH; children, Mark (Becky) Manning of Coloma, OH, Karen (Dell) Bowers of Defiance, OH, Jennifer Adams of Milford Center, OH, Timothy Manning of Milford Center, OH Samuel Manning of Marshall, TX; adopted daughter, Betty Hill; 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; brother, Kenneth Manning and wife, Jane, of Brush Creek; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Bro. Manning will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016 at Hunter Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Manning officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday and 1 hour prior to services Saturday. Interment will be at Poplar Hill Cemetery.
