Obit – Brenda Joy Harris
Brenda Joy Harris, 77, of Titusville, passed away Friday, June 11th, after a tireless battle with dementia. Mrs. Harris was born on September 5, 1943 in Hickman, Tennessee to Robert Lee Bellar and Sallie Fitzpatrick Bellar. She was loved immensely by all that were lucky enough to know her. Brenda dedicated her life to raising her children and supporting them in all their endeavors. Brenda volunteered at Oak Park Elementary and later at Astronaut High School in Titusville, and was recognized as Apple Corps Volunteer of the Year by Brevard County Public Schools. Her dedication and hard work was recognized by the administration at Astronaut, and she was subsequently hired on and worked in the Attendance and Front Offices there for the next 20 years and earned Employee of the Year honors. To the very end, she loved to dress in the school colors — supporting the Maroon and Gold. Brenda loved to cook and was known throughout town as the go-to baker if you needed a cake decorated. She also enjoyed painting, making dolls, and other artistic pursuits. Later in life, she devoted herself to being the best Grannie ever, creating cherished memories that will live forever with us all. Brenda was a member at the North Brevard Church of Christ, dating back to her and her husband Hank’s arrival in Titusville in the late 1960’s. Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Henry “Hank” Harris, in May 2021, and her sister, Loretta Ann Bellar of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. She was survived by one daughter, Heather Harris Shadrix, her husband Craig Shadrix and their two sons, Hunter Shadrix and Preston Shadrix, of Lake Mary, Florida; and one son, Scott Harris, of Lake Mary, Florida, his two daughters Aubrey Harris, of Port Orange, Florida and Madison Harris Jeremiah, her husband Jovennie Jeremiah, and their son Jordan Jeremiah, of Okinawa, Japan.
Funeral Services was held on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at North Brevard Church of Christ at 6PM. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 5-6.
