GORDONSVILLE — The Gordonsville High Tigers football program posted their 50th all-time Class 1A playoff victory in dramatic fashion last Friday night at Turney Ford Field. The Tigers held off a talented and pesky Chattanooga Prep Sentinels squad, 13-12 — to advance to the second round of the playoffs.

The Big Blue defense registered five turnovers (four interceptions, a fumble recovery).

“I thought the defense played great all night long,” said head coach Stephen Jackson. “The two touchdowns they scored — we had the person there to make the tackle; just did not make the tackle. I think the ball was down in the endzone on the one catch but the referee called it a catch.”

Jackson continued, “The defense did a great job. All year we have been a bend but don’t break defense. That is what we did tonight. They did a great job of driving and getting down to the 25 and we still got a stop there in the fourth quarter.”
