Willie Carlene Tayes Sevier passed from this life November 13, 2023 at Smith County Health Care and Rehabilitationin Carthage, TN.
Willie was born May 29, 1937 to Bev and Nancy (Hite) Tayes in Overton County, TN. She married Jessie Kinlow Sevier in July, 1955 and they had seven children. Willie’s favorite things were growing vegetables in her garden and canning. Everyone who has had a jar of her green beans knows she picked, snapped, and canned them with love.
She is survived by three daughters – Lynda Sevier Crocker, Bobbi Sevier Harris, and Debbie Sevier Garrett; two sons – Danny Sevier and Darrell (Janet) Sevier; eight grandchildren -Tara White and husband Willie, Amy Ray and husband Kenny, Chrishena Poston and husband Jason, Stormiee Eldred and husband Alan, Paige McKinney and husband Tyler, Daniel Sevier and wife Tori, Brandy Jackson and husband Statius, and Shelby Sevier; thirteen great-grandchildren – Abigail (Danny) Simpson, Logan Ray, Austin Ray, Branson Barnes, Shayla Poston, Delaney Eldred, Lee Eldred, Caroline Sevier, Luke Sevier, Deacon McKinney, Kehlani Jackson, Shaylee Jackson, and Jaxon Carndean; one great, great-grandchild Wesley Rae Simpson; two sisters – Lana Craven and husband Ralph, Carolyn Maxfield and husband Benny; and two brothers – Randall Tayes and Bev Tayes Jr.
Willie was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jessie Kinlow Sevier, son Kenneth Sevier, daughter Cathy Diane Sevier, grandchildren Jamie Garrett and Johnathon Garrett, and sisters Eudean Tayes Geesling and Wilma Tayes Sells.
Graveside Services and Interment for Mrs. Sevier were conducted on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 1PM at the Holly Springs Cemetery in Overton County, TN.
The family would like to especially thank the staff in Memory Care at Smith County Health and Rehabilitation for their love and care of Willie during the past few years.
