BAYOU GOLD; Lady Owls sweep three contests in Louisiana, claim Salmen Holiday Shootout title

SLIDELL, LA  — The Smith County High Lady Owls basketball team won their fourth straight game with a 66-55 victory over host Salmen High School in Slidell, Louisiana.

The Lady Owls led for most of the way and improved to 11-6 overall with the Holiday Shootout Championship. 

Smith Co. went 3-0 in the tourney as they were led in scoring by Airyn Enoch with 26 — a career high for the senior. Enoch was named MVP of the Salmen Holiday Shootout. Merissa Spivey tallied 16 points while Chloe Collins had 11. Dacey Claywell added nine points while Emry Jones returned from a four game absence by scoring four points.

SLIDELL, LA  — The Smith County High Lady Owls basketball team advanced to the championship game of the Salmen Holliday Shootout in Slidell Louisiana Friday, December 29.

The Lady Owls improved to 10-6 overall with a 46-36 victory over Saint Bernard, California out of Eureka which is just outside San Diego.

The Lady Crusaders trailed the entire game except on one occasion as they fell to 9-2 overall.

The Lady Owls were led in the semifinals by Merissa Spivey and Dacey Claywell with 11 points each followed Airyn Enoch and Chloe Collins with seven points apiece. Julia Dickerson tallied five points while Hailey Overstreet tallied a trey. Catie Belle McCarter concluded the scoring with two points.

SLIDELL, LA  — The Smith County High Lady Owls basketball team traveled to Slidell, Louisiana to play in the Salmen Holiday Shootout last Wednesday in quarterfinal action.

The Lady Owls jumped out to a double figure lead in the first quarter and never looked back in posting  a 53-28  victory over Booker T. Washington out of New Orleans on Wednesday, December 27.

Smith Co.’s pressure defense caused numerous turnovers as the Lady Owls bolted out to a 40-13 halftime lead on their way to improving to 9-6 overall. 

Merissa Spivey led the way as she tossed in 16 first half points with eight points each in the  first  two quarters. Airyn Enoch  reached double figures with 11 as nine of those in the  first 16 minutes. Hailey Overstreet nailed three treys  for nine points while Dacey Claywell added six. Chloe Collins tallied five points while Catie Belle McCarter, Scarlet Powell and Anna Dallas scored two points each.
