Obit – Mrs. Janice Fisher

A Hiwassee Community homemaker, Mrs. Janice Fisher, went to be with her Heavenly Father at 11:33 a.m. Tuesday evening April 30th with her family surrounding her bedside. She was pronounced deceased at 1:12 a.m. Wednesday morning May 1, 2024 by Gentiva Hospice of Livingston who had been assisting the family with her care in her final days. Mrs. Fisher was 77.

Mrs. Fisher’s son, Pastor Scott Nesbitt assisted by Eld. Michael Nesbitt officiated at the 1 p.m. Friday afternoon May 3rd funeral services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Fisher Family Cemetery in the Hiwassee Community with a nephew, Eld. Anthony Dixon officiating. 

Born Jennis Sue Harp in the Wilmore Hollow Community of Macon County on June 19, 1946, she was one of ten children of the late Ernest Harp who died at the age of 84 on October 13, 1979 and one of three children of Nora Blossom Shrum Harp who died at the age of 90 on March 15, 2000.

Mrs. Fisher was preceded in death by her seven half siblings, James Louis Harp who died December 25, 2004 at the age of 77, Naomi Frances Harp Shoulders who died October 4, 2006 at the age of 78, John Henry “J. D.” Harp who died February 21, 1994 at the age of 64, J. B. Harp who died August 11, 1918 at 1 year of age, Flossie Harp who died December 4, 1918 at the age of 1 month, Opal-Olene Harp who died at the age of 10 on December 26, 1930 and Annie Mai Harp Gann who died May 8, 1986 at the age of 64.

In the front yard on the Fisher Family farm in the Hiwassee Community, she was united in marriage to Roger Glenn Fisher on April 17, 1992 with the ceremony being performed by the late Eld. J. C. Austin.

Mrs. Fisher was a recipient of her General Education Degree.

She was saved at the age of 18 in 1965 and at the time of her death was a member of the Providence Community Church in Trousdale County, which is pastored by her son Scott.

Mrs. Fisher had unconditional love for all of her family and was an easy lady to get to know and make friends with. She was adored and respected by all of her family and friends.

Surviving Mrs. Fisher in addition to her husband Roger of over thirty two years are six children, Debbie Nesbitt Roden and husband Ed of the Turkey Creek Community, Daniel Nesbitt and wife Ebby Munn Nesbitt of the Buffalo Community, Pastor Scott Nesbitt and wife Lisa Massey Nesbitt of the Defeated Creek Community, Donna Nesbitt Hopper and husband Smith County Sheriff Steve Hopper of the Riddleton Community, Susan Nesbitt Burton and husband Curtis, Lee Fisher and wife Miranda Butler Fisher all of the Hiwassee Community; sister, Vondell Harp Dixon of Carthage; brother, Rondell Harp and wife Wanda Cowan Harp of the Union Camp Community in Macon County; twenty six grandchildren and twenty nine great-grandchildren.

The Fisher family has requested memorials to the Providence Community Church.
