Obit – Mr. Randy Lutrell Dillehay

Retired Lafayette businessman, Mr. Randy L. Dillehay, died at the age of 74 at 1:27 p.m. Wednesday afternoon November 6, 2024 at the Palace Care and Rehabilitation Center in Red Boiling Springs following an extended illness.

Funeral services from the Lafayette Chapel of Anderson & Son Funeral Home were conducted Sundy afternoon November 10th with Bro. Jackie Dawson officiating and Mr. Dillehay’s daughter, Katherine Dillehay Watson delivering the eulogy. Burial followed in the Moss Family lot in the Garden of Gethsemane at the Smith County Memorial Gardens.

Born Randy Lutrell Dillehay in Lebanon on October 28, 1950 and reared in the Difficult Community, he was the middle of five sons of the late Lutrell Dillehay who died April 6, 2000 at the age of 83 and Hazel Dangeline Boze Dillehay who died April 16, 1999 at the age of 77.

His eldest brother, Billy Bryant Dillehay, preceded him in death at the age of 70 on March 3, 2015.

Mr. Dillehay was a member of the 1968 graduating class at the Smith County High School. There he majored in business education. He was a member of the chorus, pep club and his sophomore year was a member of the student council and also was selected as the chorus “Who’s Who”. He was a member of the junior play cast, and his senior year was voted the graduating student with the best personality.

The comment made of him in the ‘68 Owl annual’ was; “Sleep is the best cure for waking troubles”.

Mr. Dillehay was a recipient of his college Business Administration degree.

He was united in marriage at the Carthage United Methodist Church to Carthage native, the former Vicki Moss.

Randy and Vicki were preceded in death by an infant daughter, Randi Lea Dillehay who died at the age of 2 days on June 11, 1985.

He was the retired owner of the Randy L. Dillehay Insurance Co. in Lafayette.

His family attended the Lafayette United Methodist Church where they were members.

Surviving in addition to his wife Vicki, of fifty three years, are their three children, Sarah Jenkins and husband Billy, Katherine Watson and husband Chad, Jared Dillehay and wife Natasha; three brothers, Terry Dillehay and wife Lindy, Jackie Dillehay and wife Connie, Timmy Dillehay and wife Teresa, twelve grandchildren, Devon Dillehay, Cameron Houston, Layne Jenkins, Audrey Jenkins, Mallory Jenkins, Elsie Jankins, Tripp Dillehay, Samson Watson, Myles Dillehay, Beau Watson, Leo Watson, and Tennyssee James Watson.

The Dillehay family has requested memorials be made to the grandchildren’s education fund and they can be made by contacting Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Lafayette at 615-666-4011.
