A woman who led officers on a high speed pursuit along Interstate 40 from Gordonsville into Davidson County has been indicted by the county’s grand jury on multiple charges, including kidnapping and reckless endangerment.

Jaimea Anderson, 26, Knoxville, was indicted on three counts kidnapping, three counts reckless endangerment (deadly weapon involved), reckless driving, evading arrest/risk of death, speeding 114 in 70 mph state highway, improper passing (overtaking on left), driving without license, light law (motor vehicle), driving on roadways for traffic-CMV (erratic lane changing) and DUI.

The incident took place in November of last year when sheriffs department K-9 officer Sgt. Junior Fields attempted to stop a 2007 Nissan Altama, which Anderson was driving, in the Shell convenience market parking lot in Gordonsville.

Upon activating the blue lights and siren on his patrol vehicle, the car sped away, turning onto Interstate 40’s west bound entry ramp and traveling onto the thoroughfare.

In an offense report, Sgt. Fields’ alleges, the vehicle continued traveling west at speeds reaching 120 miles per hour, passing multiple vehicles, almost striking some.

In an attempt to stop the vehicle, the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) set up spike strips at the 236 mile marker on Interstate 40.

Eventually, a THP officer stopped the vehicle at the 216 mile marker in Davidson County where four subjects were detained.

In addition to Anderson, there were three other people in the vehicle. According to an offense report filed by Sgt. Fields, Anderson was asked to stop the vehicle, leading to the kidnapping charges.

Evidence in the case, was presented to the Smith County Grand Jury on Monday of last week.

The county’s grand jury was meeting for its regularly scheduled April session.
