SOUTH CARTHAGE — On the eve of opening day at Spring Fling and the opening round of the 1A tournament, the Gordonsville High Tigerettes softball team clinched  their fifth straight trip to Murfreesboro and the Class 1A state tournament.

The Tigerettes toppled Region 3-1A runners-up Chattanooga School for Liberal Arts (CSLA) 14-1 in a 1A sectional tilt that was moved to last Monday night because of scheduling conflicts.

“We have a huge group of seniors this year and this is something I really wanted to see this group do — is go back to state,” said Gordonsville head softball coach Jonathan Bush. “We knew coming into this season we would have a chance but you never take it for granted. You make it to this game and these teams are here for a reason. We did not want to overlook anybody. I am proud of these girls for sure.”

Bush continued, “Where we are in this program now, is due to our former players — you had Cori Jennings here watching us tonight, Abbi Brinkley and Bailey Stewart all of these ex-players are able to come back to watch and talk about what they were able to do. Now these seniors will be able to come back and talk about their stories after their careers.”

Big Blue will begin their 2026 tournament journey against McEwen Tuesday, May 19 at StarPlex field one. First pitch is slated at 4:00.
