Obit – Mr. Tommy Roberts
Mr. Tommy Roberts age 57 of County House Circle in South Carthage died with his family at his bedside at 4:15 p.m. Monday afternoon January 15, 2024 at the Smith County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carthage where he was admitted January 12th. He was pronounced deceased at 5:05 pm.
Memorial services officiated by Eld. Kenneth Summers, were conducted Sunday afternoon January 21st at 3 p.m. from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home.
One of three children born to Mary Louise Hunt Roberts of Carthage and the late Fred Thomas Roberts who died March 12, 2019 at the age of 77, he was born Thomas Allen Roberts at the former Smith County Hospital in Carthage on July 2, 1966.
A baby sister, Tammy Gail Roberts died at the age of 8 weeks of age on October 10, 1968.
He was also preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Shanda Neshay Dixon who died at the age of 28, on September 29, 2012.
Mr. Roberts was a member of the 1985 graduating class at Smith County High School.
At the Kempville Chapel Old Time Methodist Church he was united in marriage to Buffalo Community native, the former Tecia Dawn Dixon. The ceremony was performed by the late Bro. Matt Long on June 22, 2002.
Mr. Roberts was saved and was baptized into the full fellowship of the Old Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Adolphus, Kentucky and was a charter member of the Monoville Missionary Baptist Church where his membership remained at death.
He was a longtime driver for the R. M. McCaleb Trucking Co. in Gordonsville having retired due to ill health in 2021. He was the first driver hired when Marty formed the company. Marty McCaleb also delivered a moving eulogy at the memorial service.
Surviving in addition to his mother Louise and wife Tecia of over twenty one years is their son, Trevor Roberts of South Carthage; brother, Barney Roberts and wife Laura of Ashland City and nieces.
