Obit – Mrs. Margaret Bellar Nixon

Mrs. Margaret Bellar Nixon, a homemaker of Hermitage passed peacefully at 11:28 a.m. Sunday morning April 21, 2024 with her daughter at her bedside at the family’s Tyler Drive home in Hermitage. She was pronounced deceased at 12:43 p.m. by Alive Hospice of Nashville. Mrs. Nixon was 90 years of age.

Mrs. Nixon was at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Graveside service and interment were conducted on Thursday afternoon April 25th at 2 p.m. from the Hermitage Memorial Gardens on Shute Lane. Her pastor, Pastor Phil Lundy, officiated and burial followed beside her husband. 

Born Margaret Marie Bellar in the Club Springs Community on January 16, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Henry Braden Bellar who died December 10, 1981 at the age of 81 and Mamie Harris Bellar who died May 16, 1991 at the age of 91.

Mr. and Mrs. Nixon were preceded in death by an infant daughter, Teresa Ann Nixon who died at McFarland Hospital in Lebanon at the age of 3days.

She was the widow of Club Springs Community native, the late James Luther “Jim” Nixon, who was a longtime transport driver for Mixon-Nollner Oil Company in South Carthage.  The ceremony was performed on October 1, 1949 and Jim preceded her in death at the age of 60 on July 1, 1991 following forty one years of marriage.

Mrs. Nixon was a retired employee of the Genesco Corporation in Nashville.

She was a member of the Tulip Grove Baptist Church in Hermitage.

Her only immediate survivor is her daughter, Pamela Nixon Pate, also of Hermitage.
