Obit – Mr. Ronnie Poston

Mr. Ronnie Poston, formerly of Carthage, age 81, was pronounced deceased  at 4:13 a.m. Monday morning November 3, 2023 at the Stonebridge Health Care Center in Ridgetop in Robertson County following a lengthy illness. He had made his home at Stoneridge since August 14, 2020.

Mr. Poston was at the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home. Per his request he was cremated and that was performed at the Cumberland Family Services in Algood. His cremains will be buried in the Poston Family lot near his parents in the West section at the Dixon Springs Cemetery.

All five of his siblings preceded him in death. They were Evelyn Poston Van Alstyne who died at the age of 84 in 2007, Emily Poston Trusty who died at the age of 85 in 2017, William Lloyd Poston who died December 26, 1989 at the age of 65, James Haggard Poston who died December 28, 2007 at the age of 77 and Edsel Poston who died October 21, 1934 at 7 years of age.

Mr. Poston attended Smith County High School and received his General Education Degree.

He was the youngest of six children, four sons and two daughters born to the late Cecil Jennings Poston who died at the age of 80 on September 22, 1982 and Allie Delana Boze Poston who died at the age of 93 on September 8, 1998, and who were longtime Rock City Community merchants and he was born Ronald Boze Poston in the Rock City Community on November 25, 1941. 

Having been reared in the family’s Rock City grocery store and having knowledge of the grocery industry, he was retired from the former Bestway Grocery on Dixon Springs Highway in Carthage.

Before relocating to Carthage in his early career, he was a longtime resident of Mt. Pleasant in Maury County.

Mr. Poston was saved at the age of 12 under the pastorate of the Late Eld. Phocian Gibbs on August 12, 1954 and was baptized into the full fellowship of the Plunketts Creek Missionary Baptist Church in the Rock City Community where he remained a member until death.

Mr. Poston has no immediate survivors.
