Obit – Mr. Thomas Richard Sadler

Mr. Thomas Richard Sadler, age 73, of Stonewall Community in Smith County, TN, was born May 19, 1950 in Granville, TN, Jackson County, to the late Robert Sadler and Lena Mae Clay. On Monday evening, November 13, 2023, Tony went into a peaceful sleep to enter into his heavenly home, where the best is yet to come.

Tony received his education in Jackson Co School System, then in Putnam Co School system. He and his family moved to the Stonewall Community in 1956/1957 and he attended Turner High School. He graduated from Smith County High School in 1968.

After graduating from high school. He joined the United States Air Force where he served his country until 1974. He was stationed in Thailand for a limited time.

Tony was a member of Ballard Chapel United Methodist Church, which he joined at an early age and served as young youth Sunday School teacher.

His places of employment included, Bonnell Aluminum Factory, TVA, TRW, and he finally retired from the Smith County Highway Department.

Tony was an avid sports fan, whether football, basketball, baseball, or softball – he loved them all.

Tony was preceded in death by Father; Robert Sadler who passed away on May 5, 1999, Brother; Jimmy Sadler who passed away on June 20, 2014 and Mother; Lena Mae Sadler who passed away May 26, 2020.

Tony is survived by two devoted and loving brothers; Curtis E Sadler and Hugh E. (Clara) Sadler, all of Stonewall, TN. Two loving and devoted nieces; Bridgett Brown and Tanisha Sadler. Loving great-nephew; Kane McCllean. Loving great-niece; Kailey Sadley Hutchins. Two loving aunts; Veleda Hogan Smith, of Middletown, DE, and Mary Wester of Cookeville, TN. Special cousins; Paul Murphy, Charles and Thelma Skillion, Cynthia, Richard, and Valerie Hogan, Stephanie Toussaint and family, Bobby and Olivia Gregory, C.W. and Bobbie High, Loretta Hogan, and Scott Valentine. Many other cousins, friends, and his church family.

Funeral Services for Mr. Sadler were conducted from the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Homes on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 1PM with Pastor Willie Cameron and Pastor Wilkie Winfree officiating. Interment  followed in the Ballard’s Chapel Cemetery.

The family requests memorials be made to the Ballard’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
