Obit – Mr. Jimmie Stanton Harper

Jimmie Stanton Harper, age 86 of Lebanon, passed away on December 5, 2023. Visitation will be from 2 PM until 5 PM on Friday, December 15th and from noon until the celebration of life service at 2 PM on Saturday, December 16th at Ligon & Bobo Funeral Home in Lebanon with Rev. David Hesson officiating. Interment will follow at Wilson County Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Harper was born in Lancaster, Tennessee to the late Sidney Stanton and Susie Frances Lancaster Harper on October 30, 1937. He is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Ann Bland Harper; son, Stan (Jamie) Harper of Lakewood Ranch, Florida and daughter, Leigh Ann (John) Tribble of Lebanon; sister, Rose Winfree of Franklin ; five grandchildren: David (Lauren) Harper of Maineville, Ohio; Eric Harper of Kissimmee, Florida; Daniel (Savannah) Tribble of Lebanon; Amy (Drake) Watson of Lebanon; and Paul (Bailey) Tribble of Lebanon; and four great-grandchildren: River and Luka Harper of Maineville, Ohio; Harper Tribble of Lebanon, and Haven Tribble of Lebanon.

Mr. Harper was a proud graduate of Carthage High School (Smith County High School) and Tennessee Polytechnic Institute (Tennessee Technological University). Pastimes included fishing, hunting, playing golf and tennis, and watching the University of Tennessee basketball and football teams. A member of Lebanon First United Methodist Church, he served on various committees, sang in the choir, and was a volunteer youth leader. After retiring from the Tennessee Department of Transportation as Personnel Director, he worked several years as a court officer under former Judge John Wooten.
