Mr. Larry Vanderpool age 76 of the Buffalo Valley Community died peacefully surrounded by his family at his Nashville Highway home on Sunday morning December 31, 2023. He was pronounced deceased at 9:08 a.m. by Caris Hospice of Cookeville. Mr. Vanderpool was suffering from bladder cancer and sepsis.
Memorial services from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home were conducted Friday afternoon January 5th at 5 p.m.
He was born Larry Edward Vanderpool at the family home on their Brindley Hollow farm in Putnam County on March 31, 1947 and was the only child of the late Edward Garland “Bud” Vanderpool who died at the age of 85 on January 6, 2006 and Helen Edith White Vanderpool who died at the age of 90 on February 22, 2017.
Mr. Vanderpool was united in marriage on September 5, 1981 at the Smith County Courthouse to Baxter native, the former Patricia Ann Brown.
Mr. Vanderpool was widely sought after as a sheet rock hanger and finisher and was known for highly competent and expert finishing of the material. He did the interior finishing of many homes and businesses in Smith and Putnam County and surrounding areas and was the preferred finisher by many home contractors for a professional job.
Surviving in addition to his wife of over forty two years are three children, Tracy Vanderpool Reynolds and husband Gregory of the Rome Community, Jason Vanderpool and wife Tracey Overstreet Vanderpool of the Gordonsville, Scotty Vanderpool and wife Nichole of the Gainesboro Grade Community; twelve grandchildren, Tanisha, Dakota, and Cheyenne Vanderpool, Dakota Preston and wife Nichole, Logan Young and husband Brandon, Chelsea White and husband Shane, Taylor and Hannah Vanderpool, Angel Jernigan, Macayla and Victoria Lankford, Tanika Hall and husband Lucas; twenty two great grandchildren.
